The Power of P.I.E and Doughnuts

Remember me writing about Ms. Waddell and her fabulous ideas for writing? Well, she's done it again! 5th grade is working on Author's Purpose during their writing time. They are using the acronym P.I.E.

P- persuade- to talk the reader into thinking a certain way
I- inform- to teach the reader something
E- entertain- something exciting, engaging, and/ or funny

To encourage her students, Ms. Waddell brought in doughnuts. Yummy!

I will let her tell you about the lesson in her own words:

Isn't that a genius idea? And she told her students that they couldn't eat their doughnut until after they wrote their papers because it would make their paper sticky. And it worked!

Great job, Ms. Waddell! You inspire me!
(p.s.. I'm stealing this idea!)
