Food Chains- with a GIVEAWAY!

Last week in science we worked on the flow of energy from one organism to another. In other words, food chains and food webs.

To assess what we'd learned, we got to play with my Food Chain War Game that you can find on TPT.

First we played the game the way it says in the directions. Students play it was a "WAR" game, the person whose card is the highest on the food chain wins.

The next day, we used the cards to create food chains. I had to explain that not all the animals went together (from the same habitat), so some of the food chains created were just my students putting them together by order of the different types of eaters. (carnivore, herbivore, omnivore)

 They knew that every food chain had to start with a producer, and end with a decomposer. They had a great time and did a wonderful job!

Life Cycle Posters and Power Point

The past 2 weeks, we have been learning about Living and Nonliving, Animal Classifications, and Life Cycles.
As a quick, and fun, assessment of student learning, I had my students create mini-posters about one of the life cycles.

Students got to choose between the frog and butterfly life cycle. After creating their posters, my little soldiers had to present their posters to the class. I was very impressed with how well they did for their first presentations.
I had some colleagues come by after school to choose their favorites. Here are the winners!
