Day 136- Size Matters

At least, it does when determining how many delegates each state gets to send to the House of Representatives. We learned that the number allotted each state depends on the state's population. So really, it's the size of the population, not the state, that matters.

We even looked up the number of representatives online and found that Alaska, the largest state, only has 1 representative due to its low population! Tennessee has 9, which we decided was a very respectable number.

Personally, I like the Senate better. My students agreed that the Senate had the better deal too- everything is FAIR! Every state gets 2 senators, no matter how populated.
We also discussed how prestigious the senate is, with only 2 senators per state, it's a hard job to campaign for! Personally, I find myself ready for the task!

General Delk for US Senate!

Maybe not. Here's a nifty video I found on youtube!

In reading we finished our chart from yesterday. We began the chart after reading the story:

Our chart is a list of things my students are looking forward to when they get older.

I am proud of my students for having such high dreams- one of my soldiers will be President one day!
We made a new chart today on Main Idea and Detail.
