Day 150- It was tense-

-verb tense.
This was our topic from the grammar grid. We started by reading Thundercake by Patricia Polacco.

I love this story! I can completely identify with the girl in the story. When I was younger I was terrified of storms and my Grandmother would bake cakes with me if I had to stay home from school.
*sigh* Memories!

Anyhoo- this story is also full of fun verbs and onomatopoeia. After reading, we made a list of verbs, in past, present and future tense, that we can do.

Dang, my kids are good! This lesson went quicker than I thought it would. We went through our math lesson, on counting coins, and after lunch we got together with Mr. Russell's class and played a little Language Arts Jeopardy.

I made the game to play with my second graders, but my first grade kids did an awesome job! Feel free to download it and play! (underlined words and pictures are hyperlinked)

This afternoon first and second grades took a practice TCAP test. I'm thinking my students are going to do well next week. Before we started the test I told my students that we would have indoor recess with the time we have left.

He's so proud of his plane! Good job, Soldier!

Be sure to check out the Mini Math Lesson on counting coins!
