Day 1- Welcome, New Recruits!

Except for the school year being brand new, my soldiers being completely different personality-wise from last year, and being in a different room in a different wing of the school, you'd never know we had left! Even the newbie teachers seem like seasoned professionals, which is a credit to Mr. Evans' hiring skills.

Of course, we in General Delk's Army jumped right in to learning. We created our rules posters, which I forgot to get pictures of (so maybe I am out of practice) we worked on math and we did some story retelling.

I love this story! It's fun to identify the different characters that pop out of the book, and there's a surprise at the end! We practiced a little 5-Finger Retell after.

At the end, you see that one of the storybook characters didn't get sucked back into the  book! Oh no! What's to be done with the bear? Well, my soldiers had a few ideas.

After creating a list of ideas of what could happen next, my soldiers wrote a new version of the ending.

 This soldier wrote that the bear would go outside, go the woods, then go to the zoo and open all the cages. The police will come, and the bear with start crying and screaming, but then he will decide to stop and will join the circus.
I think she managed to add just about everything!

 This soldier wrote that the bear tried to pass the firefighters, but they had blocked the doors. The bear wants to go to the woods. The bear went out the window in another classroom. Then he ran into the city.

It's a small group, but very personality-rich! Not bad for the first day, but we know it won't last. We'll have more by the end of the week. On the plus side, we do have room for 20!
