Day 4- The Nehemiah Project

Clifton Hills Elementary is blessed to have so many partners in the area that help our students. One of our partners is Abba's House, in Hixon, TN. They provide each student at Clifton Hills with a new backpack filled with school supplies. They also provide New Testaments for those students who want one. I want to  thank the Nehemiah Project for making sure that all of our students know they are thought of and loved.

Friendly volunteers dropping off the backpacks.

The New Testaments

Ready to go home!

Today we learned the Counting By 2's Cha-Cha. We will practice it tomorrow and perform it for the camera. It's a great way to learn the terms "pairs" and "skip counting".

In science we are starting to study animal groups. Today we looked at classifying mammals, reptiles and amphibians. We are learning their traits by using picture vocabulary. I think it is more important to have images in the kids' brains than just words.

If you would like a copy of the Animal Vocabulary sheet that I use with my students, you can download it HERE. I use simple pictures for each category. (draw a baby, a head with hair, a thermometer for warm blooded- for mammals, etc.)

If you want to engage your student a little more, check out this website! It's all about the different species of animals. It has pictures, videos, and lots of neat information!

EXTRA CREDIT: Worth $1 Cub Cash for every piece of information that you bring to school about the different species (mammals, reptiles and amphibians) that you found on this website. Bring in 5 facts, that's $5 Cub Cash!!
