You might remember Ms. Gillem from a
PREVIOUS POST, but she's more than just a great reader, she's a wonderful member of our ESOL Team. She works with small groups of students in our school, and I have 4 students that are lucky enough to get to spend time with her.
Each week the first grade team lets our ESOL team know what we will be studying, so that they can plan their lessons accordingly. So, Ms. Gillem knew that we were studying about space while still working on main idea and details, fables, etc.Today, my students came back from their time with Ms. Gillem with this:
a Main Idea and Details ROCKET! A rocket!! And the streamers are the details about the story! Ms. Gillem read the students a story about rockets and they had to pick out the details and write them on the streamers. It's genius, I tell you! Genius!
Awesome job, Soldiers! You are brilliant Ms. Gillem!
